The creator of Kutus Kutus, Bambang Pranoto

The Kutus Kutus story begins in the Gianyar region of Bali, Indonesia. Characterised by verdant rice fields and stunning black sand beaches, Gianyar is a taste of the real Bali away from the tourist trail.

Gianyar came to international attention as the subject of the book and film, Eat Pray Love. Part the memoir takes place in the beautiful surroundings of Ubud, which saw a spike in interest after Julia Roberts filmed her scenes there.

The creator of Kutus Kutus, Bambang Pranoto, was inspired to create the healing oil by his own experiences.

“Long ago I had studied herbal medicine and always used herbal ingredients to overcome my own health problems. Through trial and error, I strove to find something that could aid my ailments.”

“So Kutus Kutus exists because I was sick. I then decided to start making the oil for others. We started from very humble origins in 2013, and now our factory in Bakbakan Village, Gianyar, is capable of producing 1 million bottles per month.”

“Everything in Kutus Kutus comes from ingredients that are grown on Balinese soil – spices and medicinal plants – with no chemicals or rocks.

The Meaning of Kutus Kutus?

There are two exciting philosophies involved in the selection of the 69 different
herbs:
i. The theory of “The five sections of the Tree of Life.” This means that every
part of a tree; the roots, stems, leaves, flowers, and fruit must undergo synergy.

ii. The philosophy of “Two Natural Elements,” that is water and fire. These
two elements of the universe constitute the Kutus-Kutus oil making process.

Additional ingredients used to make the oil base include coconut oil and a
combination of essential oils. The mixture is a traditional recipe of herbal
medicine inherited from the time of Majapahit kingdom.

Some additional ingredients include Gaharu, Ashitaba Leaf, Purwoceng, Pule,

The Kutus Kutus UK story starts with brothers Jay and Paul. Born in England but raised in Bali, the brothers now live in the Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire countryside, balancing family life and their various businesses.

Those formative years spent in Bali instilled a deep love of the island, and a true affinity with the Balinese people. Anyone who has been to Bali will tell you of its special aura, evocative sights, sounds, and smells. Take in the fragrance of a frangipani flower and you’ll instantly be transported back to that small island in the Indonesian archipelago. It truly is a place for the senses. They believe that Kutus Kutus also has those unique evocative qualities.

Jay and Paul were introduced to Kutus oil through their cousins who live in Bali and are market-leaders in promoting the brand. It is this family connection that makes Kutus Kutus UK tick. Sensing an opportunity to bring the rejuvenating oil to the wellness community back home, Kutus Kutuk UK was launched and is now spreading its fledgling wings.

We can’t wait to bring you more of the Kutus Kutus story, and we’re especially looking forward to hearing yours.
